"I chose to use a simple and unpolished approach for my photography, one where the equipment was light, quick to operate and which allowed me to experiment as much as possible. When I am working on the streets, I do not make much of an effort to conceal what I'm doing or to become invisible. In any case, this would be difficult as I am 6ft 3in tall, I carry a 6 x9 cm rangefinder camera and often use flash in my pictures, whether I am shooting in bright sunlight or low light. I am also always walking in the opposite direction to the crowds around me."
